Anna White - Essential Action |
Anna White is the Coordinator of Global Partnerships for Tobacco Control (GPTC), a program launched in 2000 by the Washington, DC based corporate accountability group, Essential Action. GPTC works to support and strengthen international tobacco control activities at the grassroots level by linking groups in the United States and Canada with groups in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Central/Eastern Europe and facilitating their collaboration on cross-border projects and campaigns. Nearly 500 groups in over 100 countries have been involved with the program over the course of the last six years.
GPTC activities include: monitoring the tobacco industry’s activities worldwide; promoting international advocacy campaigns, days of action, and events
related to tobacco control issues of an international nature,
e.g. FCTC, trade, smokefree movies; representing groups around the world at Altria/Philip Morris’s annual shareholder meeting; and organizing delegations of North American tobacco control advocates to other regions of the world to engage in joint advocacy activities.
